[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a torn ACL in his knee, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.
No fucking way, man...
Achillies, quad, ACL
Seriously some of the worst injury luck of recent. Damn
They’re likely all related - achilles injuries weaken the entire leg.
After I hurt my knee I hurt my ankle on that leg and then the other knee.
This shit is all just links in a chain and fucking up one puts more stress on everything else. It really sucks, and you have to change everything about how you approach playing.
This may be an end of a career for Cousins. Sad to see him go out like this.
3 bad leg injuries over the course of 2 years. I would just hang it up if I were him at this point
do you hate money?
Do you value being able to walk?
money can be exchanged for robot legs
This is currently not true. I've checked.
Dude can’t catch a break.
Seriously three straight injuries is so damn unfortunate
It is just that time of his life where his body couldnt handle it anymore. Every athletes have expiration dates when playing professional sports. Boogie's time just came earlier which is sad.
Dude ain’t even 30 yet and getting this string of injuries. Man that sucks.
Brandon Roy was fucking 26 or 27 when it happened. Greg Oden was fucking 21.
Both of those guys had physical condition that led to there careers ending early. Oden had different length legs And Roy has degenerative knees
Yeah, right. But they were able to have successful basketball careers. Their bodies just broke down.
Watch Brandon Roy try to walk sometime. There’s no check I’d cash to feel like that all the time
Health is the only thing that matters, especially when you don't have it.
Damn you have to feel bad for this guy. I can’t imagine the frustration of having to go through the rehab process over and over again.
my brother tore his ACL twice about a year apart and it's absolutely soul crushing, especially when you're coming right off of the first injury. shoots your physical confidence right in the face
I tore it. Then over a year later, tore it again 10 minutes into my first game back.
I played soccer since I was 4 years old. I played in high-level leagues all my life, I even played in college. Haven't played soccer since I tore my ACL the second time. I can't really watch it or watch people play anymore. Sad part is, if I picked it up again, I know I'm gonna suck since I haven't played in nearly 8 years. It has gotten easier to deal with though. I can do almost anything (knee wise). I'm in very good shape, there's slight soreness every now and then but I don't think I'll ever play soccer again.
Are you fine running? My friend has gone through similar circumstances and also refuses to play soccer again but has taken up running instead. he says it's the constant cutting and potential tackles that make him never want to risk it again, but he has no issues running marathons with worry since it's more straight line exercise that's unlikely to tweak his knee.
I used to run a lot. I was in track and field all throughout school, in addition to soccer. I ran after I quit soccer but that's hard on my knees and feet. You can run (in a straight line) with no ACL and have no issues, the issue is lateral movement. I'm more into powerlifting/crossfit now and it's great. Activity has never been an issue for me, I just can't play soccer (or pretty much any sport that involves cutting) anymore.
I’ve had 5 torn ACL’s over a 6 years span. Which has got to be some kind of record lol But yes I can confirm.
Jfc man bless the knees!
are you related to michael porter jr by chance?
what a collapse of a career. hopefully he can heal up and compete for a ring soon enough.
Turned down so much money too.. That’s rough
Pelicans offered him 2/40M before free agency started but after the injury. I guess he thought he could get better on the market and turned it down
Well, he has made $93M for his career (including his Lakers contract), so at the very least he shouldn't go broke. Still sucks to have left $31M on the table by rejecting the Pelicans' offer of 2/$40M.
To be honest, New Orleans is grateful as hell he didn't take it.
Well yeah, with respect to like the real world, but Boogie was looking at 200 million before getting injured.
